This project marked the beginning of Diversified. A student-led initiative that led to the redesign of course outlines and assignments to better support neurodivergent students.

The project was funded by ADA EDI and is a collaboration with Diversified and ADA Co-champions Alexander Smith and Karen Kriss.

This project promoted co-production in course design and delivery between neurodivergent students and instructors, via a series of workshops. The goal of the Diversified project is to promote student voice in their courses through instructional co-production between neurodivergent ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ students and their course instructors. Co-created with neurodivergent students, these workshops produced key insights and actionable solutions to enhance classroom inclusivity.

Using public space media to promote neurodiversity awareness, this project connected communities and sparked important conversations in public spaces.

A comprehensive toolkit aimed at equipping educators with the tools and insights needed to create truly inclusive learning environments.

Neurodivergent students—those with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and other conditions—often face barriers in their educational environment, highlighting the need for more adaptable systems that accommodate diverse learning needs.

The impact of these barriers are often seen as student deficits, but they result from the student having to adapt because the environment won't. That’s why we’ve developed a comprehensive toolkit to intergrade Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles into classrooms.

The toolkit has been co-designed with neurodivergent ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ students and educators, ensuring it is practical, relevant, and truly supportive of diverse learning needs. As part of this research project, you’ll get to try out the toolkit in your Term 1, 2025 courses and provide us with valuable feedback and insights on how it works in real classroom settings.
