Spotlight on ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ Gendered Violence Portal.
¹úÃñ²ÊƱ is committed to creating a safe and respectful community. This includes raising awareness about expected behaviour at the University, providing education and responding appropriately to incidents affecting our students, staff and members of the ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ community.Ìý To improve knowledge of support available for Gendered Violence (GV), ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ Safer Communities and Arc Marketing have developed a social marketing campaign. By raising awareness of the GV Portal, we aim to ensure that everyone at ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ can access the support they need.
Gendered violence affects individuals and communities worldwide and evidence shows that University settings play a crucial role to play in preventing it.Ìý
At ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ there is no place for gendered violence, and all community members are expected to prevent it, by behaving appropriately, and intervening when they observe harmful behaviour (if it’s safe to do so).Ìý
Cultural change to prevent gendered violence will take time and our ongoing efforts. While we continue prevention efforts, we are also dedicated to providing an environment where students and staff know where to seek support, report concerns, and access resources.Ìý
Evidence from the 2021 Universities Australia National Student Safety Survey (NSSS) showed that 49.3 per cent of ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ respondents said they did not know where to seek support. This campaign aims to address this by raising awareness of the GV Portal.Ìý
The campaign aims to help address GV – by increasing student support-seeking via the GV Portal.Ìý
