Joshua started at WRL as a PhD candidate in 2025, joining the Project Halophyte team to investigate the social impacts of coastal restoration projects. He is a graduate of ¹úÃñ²ÊƱ's Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and is a recipient of the 2024 Orica Ronnie Harding prize for best performance in the MEM.

Joshua has research experience in international development, working with remote communities in the Pacific. His research is grounded in political ecology and maintains a commitment to achieving environmental justice. 

Joshua's PhD interests are related to the ways that global climate policies, regulations, and financing intersect with and shape the material and daily realities of local communities in Fiji. His goal is to determine the best practice for the design and implementation of restoration projects that empower local voices, knowledge and wellbeing.
